Celebrating 50 Years with OKOTA – Babywearing Lecture at 2017 Conference

I’m very excited to be speaking at the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Association conference in Oklahoma City this Friday to healthcare professionals interested in learning more about babywearing.

The American Occupational Therapy Association states that an Occupational Therapist’s work is to ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”(AOTA, 2017). This statement is indicative of a professional stance that we should be empowering our patients; focusing on the skills they have, not what they have lost.

Babywearing is a tool that can empower parents, promote inclusion for children and caregivers with disabilities, promote socialization, and ease the work of parenting.

OTs do wonderful and amazing things for the people they serve and I’m excited to be able to spend some time with these amazing professionals.
