It’s been in the works since Summer 2018 but I got the first acceptance email just now. I am over the moon excited that Nursing for Women’s Health (NWH), an official journal of the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is moving forward to accept the manuscript about this research. The mission of NWH is to “…improve outcomes for women and newborns…” and it’s focus is to promote “…evidence-based practice for women’s health, childbearing, and neonatal care”. Scholarly discussion of babywearing is the perfect addition for article subjects for both AWHONN and NWH. While babywearing has become more commonplace, we still have a lot of work to do for it to take it’s place as an evidence-based practice that provides benefits to both the child and the caregiver. We also need to make sure that evidence has a place to prevent people being discouraged from wearing children in vulnerable situations such as after a NICU discharge.
So this post is jumping the gun a little because it’s not published yet but I couldn’t wait to share my excitement. Babywearing research is gaining acceptance with every article published.
