“For me carrying is not a choice. I am fulfilling a very real need and I will continue to carry for as long as he needs me.”
I love this story about how carrying helps this mom care for her Autistic son. He has learned, with his mom’s help, how to control his environment and use carrying to calm his anxiety. And she has learned how to read his cues and wait for the right time. The complexity of this wearer/wearee interaction and using carrying as a therapeutic caregiving tool is simply amazing.
